No single traditional final exam: the qualification is competence and portfolio based. That does not mean assessment is automatic or easy; candidates still need to demonstrate the required knowledge and occupational competence, and assessors may use written work, questioning, discussion, observation and other appropriate methods.
04 • Portfolio Planning
What evidence should you prepare for a Level 6 NVQ portfolio?
Workplace Evidence A strong NVQ portfolio normally combines different types of authentic workplace evidence rather than relying on one document type. Your assessor maps evidence to the relevant learning outcomes and assessment criteria, identifies gaps and decides whether additional questioning, discussion or observation is required.

There are 10 mandatory units, and candidates must complete all of them to achieve the full qualification.

The qualification is competence and portfolio based rather than built around one traditional final examination. Assessment can still include written work, oral or written questioning, professional discussion, assessor observation and other appropriate methods.
What evidence can I use for the NVQ portfolio?
Depending on the assessment criteria, evidence may include HSE policies, risk assessments, inspection records, audit reports, incident investigations, training records, emergency plans, meeting minutes, reports, witness testimony, professional discussion and assessor observation.
